Giving Feedback

Objective

Students will practice giving constructive feedback by delivering a brief presentation about themselves and then responding to their peers’ presentations. After each presentation, classmates will share one positive comment and one specific suggestion for improvement, focusing on areas such as clarity, organization, and delivery. This activity emphasizes respectful, helpful feedback that supports peers in strengthening their presentation skills.

Directions for this Extension Activity:
In this activity, students will practice providing constructive feedback to their peers in a structured and supportive way. They will review the sandwich method of feedback—beginning with a positive comment, followed by a specific area for improvement, and ending with another encouraging remark—and then apply it while responding to their classmates’ presentations. Emphasis will be placed on giving clear, respectful, and actionable suggestions that focus on presentation skills such as organization, clarity, confidence, and delivery. Through this process, students will strengthen their ability to communicate feedback thoughtfully while helping their peers improve their public speaking skills.

Duration: ~15 minutes* [will vary based on students' level of need]
