
Winter Gifts
Objective
Students will demonstrate financial literacy, critical thinking, and decision-making by planning a winter gift giving budget. Given a gifting scenarios, students will apply math, budgeting, and communication skills to make thoughtful and intentional spending choices. Working collaboratively, they will design a realistic and cost-effective gift plan that reflects generosity while staying within their means. Students will determine how to allocate their funds among gifts while ensuring their plan stays within the spending limit.
Directions for this Extension Activity:
In this activity, students will plan winter gift giving within a set budget. Students must decide how to spend their money on gifts while staying within their spending limit. Using math and reasoning skills, students will calculate the total cost of their purchases and determine if they remained within their budget. After completing their plans, students will present their winter gift proposal and budget breakdown to the class, explaining their spending decisions and justifying how their plan balances cost and thoughtful giving during the holiday season.
