Selfie Day

National Selfie Day Activity

Objective

Students will demonstrate their reflective writing and communication skills as they participate in a National Selfie Day activity focused on celebrating someone who inspires them. Students will identify someone who inspires them, take a selfie with the person, and write about their connection to that person. Students will apply descriptive writing to highlight the positive influence this role model has made in their lives. Through this activity, students will build self-awareness, gratitude, and creative communication skills while reflecting on those who matter most to them.

Directions for this Extension Activity:

In this activity, students will be given an approved device to take a selfie with someone who inspires them. This may be a friend, family member, teacher, or other staff member. Students will use their written communication skills to share with others why this person is so special to them. Students will pay close attention to detail and think critically as they reflect on people who have made an impact on them. Students will practice their communication skills by sharing their completed project with the class.

Duration: 25 minutes* [will vary based on students' level of need]
