Public Speaking Bingo
Objective
Students will strengthen their public speaking and active listening skills through a peer observation activity. By identifying and reflecting on common speaking behaviors in a bingo-style format, students will expand their public speaking vocabulary, recognize effective communication strategies, and engage in meaningful discussions to support continuous improvement.
Directions for this Extension Activity:
In this activity, students will create their own Public Speaking Bingo cards by selecting and placing behavior squares on a template. As classmates present, students will mark off behaviors they observe, such as saying “um” or making eye contact. The class will then reflect on what makes a speaker effective.
Duration: ~20-25 minutes* [will vary based on students' level of need]

Incorporating Bankability:
Throughout this activity, students can earn dollars for staying on task, using their bingo boards, presenting to the class, and helping their peers during the activity. This encourages participation, positive behavior, and peer support. Current Bankability users can integrate these earnings into their classroom economy. No Bankability account?
