
New Years Eve Party Budget
Objective
Students will demonstrate financial literacy, critical thinking, and decision-making by planning a New Year’s Eve party within a set budget. Given a fictional amount of money, students will apply math, budgeting, and communication skills to make thoughtful spending choices. Students will work collaboratively to design a fun, realistic, and cost-effective New Year’s Eve celebration to welcome the new year. They will decide how to allocate their budget among food, decorations, and entertainment while ensuring their plan stays within the spending limit.
Directions for this Extension Activity:
In this activity, students will plan a New Year’s Eve party while staying within a set budget. Students must decide how to spend their money on food, decorations, entertainment, and party supplies. Using math and reasoning skills, students will calculate the total cost of their party and determine whether they stayed within their spending limit. Once completing their plans, students will present their New Year’s Eve party budget breakdown to the class.
