Job Explorations

Objective

Students will identify and describe key characteristics they are seeking in a future career. Through guided reflection activities, students will assess their current skills, strengths, and interests. They will then research careers of interest to determine the skills, qualifications, and training required for those positions. By the end of the activity, students will compare their current skill set with the skills needed for careers they are considering.

Directions for this Extension Activity:
In this activity, students will first identify their personal interests, hobbies, and activities they enjoy. They will then list and reflect on the skills they currently possess that could help them be successful in the workplace, such as communication, collaboration, or problem-solving. After completing their self-assessment, students will identify careers that align with their interests and strengths. For each career selected, students will explain why they are interested in it and identify the skills required.

Duration: ~15 minutes* [will vary based on students' level of need]
