Holiday Cards

Objective

Students will practice spreading cheer by creating a personalized greeting card to give to someone of their choice. Students will select and decorate a card, then write, trace, or copy a thoughtful message inside. Through this activity, students will engage in acts of kindness, practice social–emotional skills such as empathy and generosity, and develop communication and fine motor skills while sharing a positive message with others.

Directions for this Extension Activity:
In this activity, students will create their own greeting card to give to someone else. Students will select a card to decorate using art materials such as markers, crayons, stickers, or other provided supplies. They will then write, trace, or copy a holiday message inside the card, practicing appropriate handwriting, letter formation, and written communication skills. This activity encourages creativity, fine motor skills, and functional communication while reinforcing the social skill of giving a thoughtful card to others.
