Autism Acceptance April resource week 1

Autism Acceptance Month

Objective:

Students will apply their understanding of Autism Acceptance by defining what it looks like in everyday actions and attitudes. They will demonstrate their learning by creating posters that promote inclusion, awareness, and respect. This activity helps build empathy, self-expression, and social awareness while encouraging students to contribute to a supportive and inclusive school environment.

Directions for this Extension Activity:
In this activity, students will engage in a discussion about Autism Acceptance and its importance in creating an inclusive and supportive community. Students will then apply their understanding creatively by designing and decorating Autism Acceptance Month posters to be displayed in the classroom, hallways, or throughout the school. Throughout the activity, students will be expected to follow directions, participate respectfully, and put forth effort in both their written work and creative projects to help promote awareness and celebrate Autism Acceptance Month.

Duration: ~15 minutes* [will vary based on students' level of need]
