
Needs Vs. Wants
Objective
Students will sort items into “needs” and “wants”. This exercise can help students create a clear framework for making more informed, thoughtful choices that pertain to their budgeting. This activity will help students differentiate between what is essential for their survival (needs) versus what items are non-essential to their well-being (wants).
Directions for this Extension Activity:
In this activity, students will be presented with items and asked to identify whether the item is a need or want by moving around the room or checking a box. Students will be given the opportunity to defend their thinking.
Duration: ~15 minutes* [will vary based on students' level of need]
