Introducing the New Digitability Work-Ready Program at Ruttenberg Autism Center

Ruttenberg Autism Center is now accepting registrations for adolescents and adults for this 8-week course with Digitability

Today, more than 70% of people with cognitive disabilities are unemployed. Researchers use the term, "the cliff," to denote the drop-off of services to support people through their transition to our tech-driven economy. Ruttenberg and Digitability are working together to change that.

Why Ruttenberg is taking action with Digitability

To help reverse the trend of joblessness and the skills gap among people with cognitive disabilities, Ruttenberg Autism Center in Blue Bell, PA is offering an 8-week work-ready course using the Digitability program. The program begins on October 3, 2017.

To learn more about registration fill out the form on the side -- no credit card or payment is required to begin the process.

Digitability is the #1 pre-employment transition program that develops a person's interests into marketable skills for a variety of job types, while simultaneously building social and emotional capacity for the workplace.

As you'll see, each student has a unique set of cognitive and behavioral needs. In the words of special education teacher, Dawn Geiger, "Digitability has something for every single one of my students."

About Digitability's Work-ready Program at Ruttenberg Autism Center

Social skills, problem solving and self-advocacy do not happen in a silo; therefore they can not be taught in one. Digitability's award-winning program streamlines all of the necessary academic, social/emotional and vocational skills training needed for work-readiness and independence.

Digitability Work-ready Program Part I

The goal of the first stage is for participants to become proficient in using technology to obtain information and connect with others socially and professionally online and offline.

Participants who complete Part 1 of this program will complete their first professional skill-based portfolio piece by collaborating within a workplace simulation to plan a website. All participants will practice the necessary routines for workplace communication and problem-solving.

Individuals who participate in the Digitability program run the gamut; therefore, to create an inclusive environment, all of our resources are extensively differentiated to support a very wide range of learning and behavior profiles from adolescence into adulthood. Our unique model provides the necessary structure to promote generalization of skills that truly translate into independence.

Every student will have a role to play in the Digitability work-simulation.
