About Digitability's award-winning pre-employment transition program

Social skills, problem solving and self-advocacy do not happen in a silo; therefore they can not be taught in one. Digitability's one-of-a-kind program streamlines all of the necessary academic, social/emotional and vocational skills training needed for work-readiness and independence.

Individuals who participate in the Digitability program run the gamut; therefore, to create an inclusive environment, all of our resources are extensively differentiated to support a very wide range of learning and behavior profiles from adolescence into adulthood. Our unique model provides the necessary structure to promote generalization of skills that truly translate into independence.

About Digitability's Founder:

Wanting to do more for her own students, Michele McKeone, M.Ed founded Digitability to level the playing field for all students who were identified with a disability. She understood that there would be social and psychological barriers to overcome. In her 2016 TedxTalk, Michele emphasized the importance of empathy in achieving a workforce where neurodiversity is embraced.

Today, 75% of all jobs require some degree of technical literacy. In a CNET feature that discusses, "How tech means jobs ahead for kids with cognitive disabilities," Digitability is highlighted as a company focused on changing the current status quo of pigeonholing people with cognitive disabilities into unemployment or underemployment.

About Disability and the Workplace:

For people with disabilities like Down syndrome and Autism the unemployment rate is about 70%. The term, "cliff," is used to denote the drop-off of services to support people through their transition to our tech-driven economy. The goal of this workshop is to show you how you can act now to reverse the trend of joblessness and the skills gap, especially your own children or the child of someone you care for.

Director of Special Projects, Union County Educational Services Commission

"The Digitability curriculum is uniquely suited for our programs serving transition-age students. It addresses prerequisite skills related to employability and independent living -- and all in the context of preparing our students to be responsible and informed digital citizens."

"I was extremely impressed by the quality of the professional development that was provided as part of the implementation of Digitability. Often training involving new online instructional platforms is too focused on the technical aspects of the software. Michele McKeone's approach to our PD session was instead focused on the successful delivery of the curriculum including modeling important practices such as differentiated instruction, prompting, and positive reinforcement. While my teacher learned how to facilitate Digitability, she was also exposed to a sound refresher covering key research-based approaches to teaching student with Autism and other special needs."

I also have a vested interest in ensuring that our students are fully equipped to live their lives fully and safely in this digital age. ... Digitability helps facilitate that inclusiveness for people of varied abilities, including those on the autism spectrum, in a way no other technology-based business does.
